Marshall University Foundation’s third annual Thank a Donor Day took place on Wednesday, September 9, at the Memorial Student Center plaza at Marshall’s Huntington campus. Thank a Donor Day provided a special opportunity for Marshall University students to thank the donors who funded their scholarships and programs. “We provided several activities for students, staff and faculty, including signing thank you cards for donors, creating signs of appreciation, posing for photos and recording video gratitude messages,” said Krystle Davis, program director of Scholarships and Donor Relations. “The students enjoyed expressing their thanks in creative ways, and the popcorn and prizes were just icing on the cake for a great day.” WMUL-FM provided music and announcements, and the Marshall University Alumni Association gave away free soda. Marco, Marshall’s mascot, also made an appearance at Thank a Donor Day. “On this special Thank a Donor Day, I want to thank the large number of donors who support Marshall University and invest in the lives of our students and faculty as well as our programs,” said Dr. Ron Area, CEO of the Marshall Foundation, Inc. “Just look around the Huntington campus and see the major capital improvements. See the smiles on the faces of our students for the scholarship support our donors have provided. We at Marshall are truly grateful for the generous support of our donors.” A Day of Thanks for Marshall Supporters Evan Lewis, a senior at Marshall, said giving thanks is the least he could do for the ones who have made his career possible. “Donors have made it easier for me to attend Marshall, so signing a thank you card is an easy way to show how much I appreciate their generosity. I hope one day I’ll be able to give back and make things easier for future Marshall students,” he said. The Foundation’s annual Thank a Donor Day is being planned for this coming fall.
