I was in pure shock and disbelief. I was sure that I would not receive the Maier STEM Educator Scholarship because nothing this great had ever happened to me. I would compare it to the scene in Willy Wonka where Charlie gets the golden ticket. Dylan and his family moved to Milton, West Virginia, six years ago from Richmond and Dinwiddie, Virginia. Marshall was a great choice for Dylan because he has a very close relationship with his parents - he credits his dad as his biggest supporter and hero. Marshall also offered the programs he was interested in studying. He finds the best thing about the Huntington campus are the friendly people and the beautiful grounds and enjoys spending time on the Memorial Student Center Plaza because of the general ambiance. He appreciates the quietness of his residence hall room, as well. I enjoy learning, in general, but I am looking forward to learning science the most, said Dylan, who believes time management has been the greatest challenge he has faced in college. I have also had difficulty resisting the excellent food!Currently, Dylan is a member of the role-playing club and plans to join the Marching Thunder in 2020 - he plays the tuba and the piano. During his time at Marshall, Dylan hopes to learn as much as possible, make new friends and make a positive impact on others. He encourages alumni to give back to the community to make it better for future generations and is grateful for the encouragement they provide to students. I am most thankful for making it this far in my educational journey, for my parents support and the Maier Foundation for making my education possible, said Dylan. Thank you, Maier Foundation, for this scholarship. It shows how much faith you have in me. I am genuinely honored to be a recipient and I hope to make you proud.'
