b'2017 EXHIBITION HIGHLIGHT A fascinating exhibition, The San Quentin Project Presented by Jack and Angie Bourdelais, brought together 11 artists who were invited to use the imagery and information in a pair of early 20th century San Quentin Prison record books as a starting place for the creation of artworks for the show. Topics ranged from a general statement on imprisonment to a visualization of specific individuals who populated this legendary California prison. The exhibit showcased a variety of media, from painting and drawing to ceramics and photography. The month of July 2017 saw the opening of For the Joy of Light: Paintings by Robert Singleton and Soundscapes by Dan Morro. This enchanting exhibition featured dramatic light and sound within a darkened room and was centered on a series of large-scale paintings by Singleton. The show had been in the planning stages for several years and required many technical details to be solved.
